HAYAA Overview

The Hartland Area Youth Athletic Association (aka HAYAA) is an all-volunteer organization that provides recreation programs for children (ages 5-16) in the Hartland Consolidated Schools District.

The organization is comprised of an Executive Board that oversees the individual sports’ operating boards. HAYAA offers the following programs: Baseball, Softball, Football, Cheerleading/Pom, and Basketball. Questions can be addressed directly to the HAYAA President or any of the operating board commissioners.

No student will be refused registration due to inability to pay.

Overview of Individual Sport

Baseball/Softball
Registration is generally late January-early February. Programs are offered for 5-6 year olds to 15-16 year olds. Seasons run approximately from April-July. Players receive a uniform but need to supply their own glove and shoes.

Basketball
Registration usually takes place in mid-October. Boys and girls teams are offered for 8-14 year olds. Practices start in December and games in January. Season runs into March. Players to supply shoes and shorts. Travel teams are available on a tryout basis for upper ages at additional cost.

Football
Registration is usually in mid-March. Teams are available for youth ages 8-14. Returning players receive priority. New players are placed by lottery. All equipment is provided except shoes. Players keep their personalized game and practice jerseys. Practice begins in early August. Games run from Labor Day weekend until about Halloween. Practice is every day prior to games and 3 times per week during the season. All parents are scheduled to work a home game sometime during the season.

Cheerleading/Pom Pon
Registration is usually in mid-late March. Teams are available for youth ages 8-14. Returning players receive priority. New players are placed by lottery based on football assignments. Uniforms are provided. Girls shall provide shoes, lollies and bodysuits. Practice begins in early August. Games run from Labor Day weekend until about Halloween. Practice is every day prior to games and 2-3 times per week during the season. All parents are scheduled to work a home game sometime during the season. Girls will participate in the league-wide Cheer/Pom Festival usually in early October.
